Dive In: Mumbai Is Having Its First-Ever Underwater Swimming Festival!

What Is It?

If you’re already swimming in sweat in Mumbai’s heat and humidity, how about giving a try at Mumbai’s first ever ‘underwater swimming’ festival? The two-day aqua-sports festival is being hosted by Underwater India at Prabodhankar Thackeray Krida Sankul sports complex in Vile Parle East on May 6 and May 7 2017.

Who Is It For?

Swimmers as well as non-swimmers. This exciting underwater festival has an underwater zone as well as an action aka on-land zone. Swim away the summer blues at the scuba diving session for beginners which will have also have an underwater photo booth. Certified divers can sign up for the underwater obstacle course at their 17 feet deep pool, and challenge themselves.

Experienced swimmers can also sign up for a fun game of underwater hockey game.

Why Should I Go?

To enjoy this bizarre yet intriguing festival. Float away in the blue waters and challenge yourself with underwater races and hockey. They also have on ground activity like skateboarding, slacklining and spikeball.

It doesn’t end there, as participants can also browse through the photography exhibition, get tips by certified divers, see films and catch a slack-rope performance. Of course, swimming or not, there’s going to be delish food served by Mumbai’s food trucks.

Anything Else?

All equipment for diving and hockey will be provided at the event, you just need to show up with your swimming attires. A visitor’s pass will cost INR 500, and an-all-inclusive pass costs INR 4,500 including scuba diving for certified divers.
