Ten-Second Takeaway

Bhumika & Jyoti is a designer store in Juhu that believes in high-end sustainable fashion with a zero-waste policy of fabrics for their quirky and innovative collection.

What’s It About

The zero-waste concept isn’t a new one in the global fashion world, but definitely is in Mumbai. Designer-duo, Bumika Chedda and Jyoti Mukerji have launched this store keeping in mind, no fabric used for stitching clothes should be wasted. Upcycling and recycling materials and fabrics like jute, cotton, silk etc they create their designs. Cut off fabric is used to create braided belts for dresses, or used as a beautiful braided borders in their lehnga collection, ticking all the right ethical boxes.

Their accessories too, are made of cut-off fabrics. Beads and threads have been used to conjure up dazzling range of shoe wear, bags {INR 1,200 upwards} and earrings {INR 550 upwards}.

What We Love

The fusion of fashion and sustainability gives Mumbaikaars a cause for shopping. Keeping the close-to-nature theme in mind, we saw shades of greens, pastels and blues in the store, with patches of beautiful butterflies on their bags, and shoes. Even the price tags, made out of recycled jute, are sustainable. Now no more guilt trips for shopping splurges.

#LBBTip: Like something, and want it customised? They’ll do it. They offer customisations on their in-store collection mainly for apparel – in terms of sizes, colours or even a design.
