So, if you’ve been thinking about buying a musical instrument or are a beginner and looking to get started, have a look at the music stores we’ve rounded up for you in the city. Furtados is possibly one of the most iconic music stores in the country. In fact, Furtados in Kalbadevi is almost 150 years old, with its other outlets spread across Mumbai  which are owned by the Gomes Family (from Goa) since 1959. A musician’s paradise with its diverse collection of guitars, drum kits, amps, and even sound books, one can easily spend a quality afternoon here going through all that they have to offer. They sell all sorts of instruments imaginable- pianos, keyboards, drums and guitars (acoustic or electric).

BAJAAO, Andheri East

BAJAAO has been a boon to the music community in Mumbai {and the rest of the country} with their efficient and well-stocked e-retail website, as well as the offline store in Andheri East. Bajaao was started off by Ashutosh Pande back in 2005, and ever since, they have only expanded. They have everything that one can possibly imagine- guitars, amplifiers, drums and percussion, cello, violin and even DJ pro and audio equipment. You can buy the stuff off their website, and it will be delivered to you anywhere in India.

Musicians Mall, Girgaon

Musicians Mall on Grant Road is completely dedicated to musical instruments, audio equipment, gear and much more. You’ll need to set a few hours aside for you to zero in on the final choice. The staff here is friendly and knowledgeable. They’ll be more than happy to assist you in case you’re lost or don’t know where to start. They also distribute Mesa Boogie amplifiers and Aria guitars at their store.

Shalu Music, Bandra West

If you live in and around Bandra, then you can also check out Shalu Music store opposite KFC in Bandra West. Shalu Music Store was set up in 1988 and has been affiliated with all major music brands since then. There’s Yamaha, Focusrite, Avid, Apogee, Neumann, Roland, Walden and so on. In fact, before going to the store you can send in your query about a specific instrument, or the product you’re looking to buy via their website and then head there.

Alberto Music

Alberto Music in Malad West is a slick music store with a myriad of musical instruments, books, and other audio equipment. Apart from its standard collection of guitars, drums, percussion, keyboards and other Indian instruments – we’ve been told they also house a great luthier. They service, maintain and repair instruments – a broken string, a faulty amp and more. Just take it there and get it it fixed. They also have have a rare gear available at the store, all you need is an hour time’s and the staff will show you around.

Bhargava's Musik

Bhargava’s Musik in Bandra West is also one of the oldest musical instruments chain stores in the city. Known for an invested staff that maintain solid relations with their customers, trust us when we say go here. Especially when you’re starting out and are looking to buy your first ever instrument. They will guide you well and show you the options at hand (depending on your interests and requirements).

They deal in all sorts of musical instruments-guitar (bass, acoustic, electric), ukulele, keyboards and piano, drums, and even the classic instruments like sitar and dilruba. The prices are budget-friendly and they have an excellent maintenance service once you purchase a product.

S.B. Music, Malad West

S.B. music store in Malad West is known for importing its instruments from the US, UK and other countries. Saw a kick ass cymbal online but it’s only available in the U.S? You can ask the good folks at the store if they can get it for you. Apart from this, they have a good range of gear, equipment, DJ consoles, guitars, keyboards, piano and drum kits.

Sound Monk Musical Instrument Store

Take a walk down here, and you’ll immediately be walking down a memory lane. Do stop by R.S Mayekar (the shop from the 30s), that still repairs old sitars.
