Still reeling from the shock? Us too. The National Centre for the Performing Arts {NCPA} is organising its first-ever electronic dance music concert, Electric, on Saturday and Sunday, 27 and 28 August.

What's In Store?

NCPA, a shrine for culture vultures in Mumbai, has been slowly breaking out of its classics-only programming over the last two years. This attempt to appeal to a new audience has included a lot of diverse and intriguing theatrical shows, dance performances and music concerts. But this one is perhaps the most interesting foray of all.

Electric is a two-day-long concert which will feature Sahej Bakshi {aka Dualist Inquiry} on 27 August, and Goan DJ Anish Sood on 28 August. The concerts mark a massive departure for the Mumbai institution, which has been known as much for its high prices and occasionally inaccessible programming, as it is for the high quality of its venue and the artists they bring to Mumbai.

So We're Thinking…

Well we're still thinking and recovering from the electric bomb {#sorrynotsorry} dropped on all of us by the NCPA. But we are super excited about this collision of classics meets the pop. Embracing a culture outside of its niche, a way forward for the NCPA and its patrons. Also, imagine seeing the concert in as beautiful a venue as the NCPA theatre - something truly new for any EDM fan.
