For all our homesick, North-Eastern friends, here’s something to rejoice over – O’Tenga is an Assamese home kitchen that will host pop-ups and deliver food starting this April.

Say Whaaat?

Craving some muri ghonto? Or some khaar? Well, for anyone who’s looking to dig into some delicious, home-style Assamese food, then O’ Tenga is what you should be looking forward to. An Assamese kitchen serving authentic and homemade Assamese delicacies, O’Tenga is a joint venture by Joyee Mahanta and Priyangi Borthakur who moved to Mumbai 14 years ago. Their constant cravings and search for homemade Assamese food, and the disappointment that followed due to lack of its presence in the city, the girls decided to take matters in their own hands and have now decided to serve this ethnic cuisine to Mumbaikars.

Assamese food isn’t just all noodles and momos, and they tell us that there’s very “little know-how about the cuisine”. And that’s how the idea of starting O’ Tenga came up. The duo will have an elaborate menu with plenty of vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. The menu will include fish, chicken, mutton, pork and duck preparations made with herbs and vegetables sourced from Assam. There will be plenty of vegetarian options as well, which include ‘xaak’ (leafy vegetables), khaar, pitika and tenga.

The duo plan on launching O’Tenga this April and will initially have pop-up lunches and dinners at home. But they will also start home delivery soon. They should have a delivery radius stretching upto Juhu and Goregaon West.

You can get in touch with them either on email {otengamumbai@gmail.com} or through their Facebook page here.

So, We're Saying...

We’re saying good-bye to our diet because we’re sure this food is going to be simply irresistible.
