You need to keep a few things in mind before you cart the bedsheet of your dreams.
Fibre Content: Opting for 100% cotton bedsheets is the way to go, as they're soft, comfortable, and affordable as well. However, if you don't mind spending more, Extra-Long-Cotton is the way to go as those sheets are softer, and if you can get Egyptian cotton sheets, that is ideal. You can also choose cotton/polyester blends as they are more affordable, and are less prone to wrinkles.
Thread Count: Contrary to what you might think, thread count isn't everything! Some manufacturing techniques can create higher thread counts, but do not necessarily give you softer sheets. A 300-500 thread count is great (but also expensive) as it lends soft sheets, 200 isn't too bad either and is generally available at a more affordable range.
Weave: Percale and sateen are the two common weaves that you'll encounter while shopping for sheets. Percale is a basic grid-like weave and feels crisp and light, while sateen is a satin-like weave that feels silky smooth.
Mattress Size: You're familiar with queen and king size, right? But there's no standard measurement that brands follow! So, it's a better idea to get a measuring tape out and measure your mattress before buying a bedsheet.
Laundry Instructions: You obviously don't want something that's too complicated to wash! So check the laundering instructions. We bet you'll prefer a machine-washable sheet, and that's why it's best to check it. For example, while silk sheets are extremely comfortable, you wouldn't want to head to the dry cleaners every week, right?
