Our favourite South-Asian acapella group that formed in University of Pennsylvania, Penn Masala are touring India, and they are coming to Mumbai on Saturday, May 20 at Dublin Square in Phoenix Marketcity, Kurla. If you’ve been a fan of their Bollywood and Western fusion music, then this one is for you, Penn fans.

Why Should I Go?
If you fell in love with their 2014’s five-minute YouTube video titled, ‘Evolution of Bollywood‘, then you my friend are in for some good time. The video of these Penn University acapella members went viral overnight, and garnered almost 1 million views within a week. That was in 2014, and they have come a long way including having performed in India since. The group itself is a mix of Indian-American boys, and they’ve taken their music to the global platform, taking Bollywood music to the West and Western music to India.
They’re back and will tour India across Hyderabad {May 19}, Mumbai {May 20}, Chennai {May 21}, Pune {May 24}, Delhi {May 26}, Bangalore {May 27} and have their last gig at Kolkata {May 20}.
You should go because they’re promoting their latest album, Yuva which released on April 21, and you will get to hear tracks from it along with a few old and classic ones.
Who Is It For?
Penn Masala fans, music fans and people who love acapella in general. They’re a really fun group, and experiment a lot with sounds such as beat boxing. Do you remember the epic mix up of Coldplay’s Fix You {2005} and A.R Rahman’s Ishq Bina from Taal? Well you’re in for more, and if possible, better.
Their new album, Yuva has some amazingly beautiful tracks. Our favourite one so far is the mash-up between Ed Sheeran’s Photograph, Bajirao Mastani’s Aayat and Laal Ishq. It’s soulful, the video is heart-warming and our boys are just hitting hard home.
