We really may be in the future because the Indian Railways and Tourism Corporation {IRCTC} is planning on launching ‘anytime pizza machines’ {APM} at five of the biggest local stations in Mumbai. Pizza ATM? This is not a drill!

What Exactly Is It?

YessPizza, the parent company behind the pizzavolution launched this first ever service in Thane back in May, 2016. Now they are in talks with IRCTC to expand it to five other stations that include Mumbai Central, Andheri, Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST), Kalyan and Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) according to Mumbai Mirror.

Apart from the samosas, bhajis , frankies or even the on-the-go Dominoes pizza stalls at the stations, we now may have another addition to our junk selections, this time freshly baked pizza from a machine. The concept was started off in the Netherlands, followed by a university in America, and then finally making its way to India.

How Does It Work?

Just like how we withdraw cash from the ATMs, we can now ‘withdraw’, or rather order pizza from these 24×7 APMs. Put the token in the machine, select your toppings and add what you like. Then step back and watch the magic happen – from kneading the dough to shaping the crust and finally topping it up with our choices. Under five minutes, you’ll have a freshly baked pizza ready to eat with no human cooking it for you {move over Maggi, pizza under five minutes is here}.

So, We're Saying...

According to Mumbai Mirror, the plan is to materialise the machines at the aforementioned stations by next month. So here’s to a modern Mumbai – where pizzas can be dispensed via a machine at the local stations. We are looking forward to trying it out.
