Port, housed out of the G5A Contemporary Culture Centre in Mahalaxmi is a hub for live music, poetry and vinyl sessions.

Live At Port

Port is a lively and a really cosy cafe adjacent to the auditorium where some of the most fascinating plays and events have taken place.

However, we love the cafe for its ‘Live at Port’ property. Here, they organise live gigs, poetry sessions and all things lovely for the guests. The cafe transforms into a gorgeous venue for the artists, but still serves a hot cuppa and brownies which we dig. David Pinto, who manages the programming of the cafe, and tell us the idea is to bring in as many upcoming artists and showcase to let them showcase their talent here.

What We Love

Port also has ‘Vinyl Sundays’ that happen on the first Sunday of every month. Here, you bring in your vinyls, exchange them or listen to the ones already playing on the record.

The ambience makes for a fitting place for a tête-à-tête while you’re enjoying the food from the cafe. We love the aglio olio pasta and their hot coffee. In fact, one of the best things about the cafe is that it is donned with greenery, there are potted plants, long communal wooden tables and cosy corners with cushions for people to make themselves comfortable.

Apart from this, once a week a new gig is organised here. In the past, they’ve had free tea tasting sessions here, gigs by Mumbai-based musicians and live poetry reading sessions. And if you’re enjoying a lovely pleasant evening here, make your way to the rooftop cafe and enjoy the breeze.

So, We're Saying...

We aren’t big fans of events that happen at cafes and restaurants, mainly because one gets distracted with all the commotion. However, at Port, we can leave our hesitation home, and hum along to the tunes of the artist. Fairy lights included, mind you.

You can follow their events here.
