It is the season for fun treks, and what more could one ask for than climbing up a fort and getting a view that many just dream of.
Rajmachi Fort is basically made up of two smaller forts - Shrivardhan and Manaranjan. Visible from the Mumbai-Pune expressway, it's a famous spot for trekking.
This particular trek, on August 24 at 5:20 PM, is where you'll get to camp at the base village, Udhewadi, located just under the fort. Surrounded by waterfalls, you also get to explore the Kataldhar waterfall from the fort. Once you register, you meet the trek leader near Lonavala railway station ticket counter, assemble 15 minutes prior to reporting time and start the 8 km trek to the base village. You have your dinner and rest the night. Next morning, you start the fort exploration at 7:30 AM, break for lunch and start descending towards Karjat and make a stop at Kondhane caves.
The price per person is INR 1,600 which includes traveling from Lonavala to base village by jeep; dinner, breakfast and lunch; homestay in a dormitory, traveling from Kondhane village to Karjat station, and charges.
The cost excludes travel till Lonavala and back from Karjat, snacks, water and personal expenses.
