Tell Me More

The green cycle initiative by the TMC has been set-up in order to promote sustainable, and a green way of living. Similar to the initiative in North Campus in Delhi University wherein students can rent out cycles, now people in Mumbai can do the same.

According to HT, 50 cycle stands across the city will be set up, and around 20 cycles per stand will be available on rent. All the cycles will be available on very nominal fee as a part of the Centre’s Smart City project. Currently, the stands have been introduced at Korum {outside the Viviana mall}, and Majiwada with 30 bicylces in Thane.

All you need to do is register yourself with TMC, and you’ll be given smart cards that you’ll be required to swipe at the stand while taking out, and returning the cycles. For INR 10 per hour, you can take these bikes out for a ride.

The cycle stands will be set up in and around the bus stops, and railways stations, so people can avail the facility to work, or their offices.

So, we're Saying...

By introducing these cycle stands, the TMC hopes to encourage more people to take up cycling, and cut down the pollution emitted from the vehicles. Go green, and skip the traffic madness. And a bit of leg exercise never hurts anyone.
