Row, Row, Row Your Car?
Ro-Ro is a ‘roll-on roll-off’ transport mode that will ferry people, bikes and cars along the Mumbai west coast. The project, which has been proposed by the Maharashtra Maritime Board has recently got the go-sign from the State Environment Impact Assessment Authority, and will be ready to hit the Mumbai waters in phases, starting from mid-2018, early 2019 and so forth.
The routes will be from Marve–Manori, Bhayander–Vasai, Borivali–Gorai, and Virar–Palghar. A single ro-ro will be able to carry about 50 passengers and 10 cars on it.
So, We're Saying...
People whose daily commute falls in any of the ro-ro routes will be lucky to have their travel time slashed by half {or more}.
