What Makes It Awesome

If you're the sort who loves colours, spice and everything nice, then chances are that you will fall head over heels in love with Sancho's. Yes, the name sounds familiar, doesn't it? Years ago, this city was graced with a Mexican joint that stole our hearts and guess what? It's back and it's here with a bang.

Chef Amninder Sandhu and Chef Esdras Ochoa- who met as participants in The Final Table (yes, our latest Netflix binge watch)- have collaborated to bring authentic flavours of Mexico to Mumbai. Also known as LA's taco king, Esdras is a hugely famous Mexican chef and with Sancho's, he wants to take us on a tour to Baja California in Northern Mexico (where he grew up) and Los Angeles (where he was influenced and honed his culinary skills).

Nothing about Sancho's is remotely boring or disappointing. If you happen to go in there and ask the chef to surprise you (like we did), then make sure you've got enough room in your stomach. He's one generous man and a culinary genius.

We recommend you start your meal with the very refreshing chips and salsa trio along with the Sancho's legendary habanero. These starters are perfect to set the mood right and embark you on a flavourful journey. Follow this up with tacos - all of them and we mean it. It's really hard to pick just one or two of our favourite combinations, so blindly pick what sounds the most appealing and we bet it will be as good.

But if we must, then definitely have the World Famous Ensenada Fish Taco and the Lamb Barbacoa Taco. They're divine. For the mains, we greedily opted for the Pollo Con Papas, a delectable flame-grilled chicken preparation which is tasty and filling.

Of course, to wash down the food we had the most delicious cocktails for company, and we strongly recommend you sip on the Sancho's Paloma and Sancho's Sour.

To summarise our experience, this meal was just what we needed to uplift our mood and reinforce our faith in the fact that the global food scene in Mumbai is only growing and getting better by the day. Sancho's is worth your dime and time, and if you haven't been there yet, then are you even a real foodie?

PS- After beautifully designing Arth, Gauri Khan has also done the interiors for this restobar. So make sure your cameras are out because the food and space deserve all the clicks.
