Dinner With a View: Spend A Romantic Evening At This New Rooftop Eatery That Reminds Us Of Morocco

A rooftop bar in the city always sounds good because of the views you get to enjoy courtesy the perfect weather. Chembur is home to the newest entrant, Shalom Rooftop Bar & Kitchen, that promises to delight every palate.

Located near Ambedkar garden, this new rooftop bar draws its roots and theme from Morocco {Shalom is a greeting in Hebrew meaning peace and harmony} and has both, a sprawling open-air seating area and indoor seating. The outdoor space has a mix of private cabanas, high tables, low seating and two large tables for big groups. So, it’s perfect for that special date!

The indoor seating is a mix of high tables, low dining-style tables and sofas. The bar and DJ console is also indoors, with enough space to dance, if you’re in the mood for it.

The menu is a curation of both staple dishes and innovative modern finger food. You’ll find fresh couscous salad with olives and lemon oil, classics like rafisa, which is chicken, lentils, fenugreek, saffron and spices, another delectable dish called the kofta meatball tagine – a classic Morrocan preparation of lamb meatballs in a tomato based gravy with a hint of saffron.

You are also spoilt for choice when it comes to varied cuisines, with dishes such as butter chicken, chingari masala, fish veracruz and some of our favourites – pasta, pizzas and risottos, on offer.

Their bar menu is the union of Moroccan allure, with a heavy dose of Asia. Concoctions include ‘Passage to India’ {curry leaf and roasted cumin-infused white rum, apple juice and honey syrup}, the ‘Asian Alliance’ {vodka, fresh pineapple juice, jaggery, kaffir lime and Spanish bitters}. They also serve a heady twist to the good ‘ol whiskey sour called the ‘Green Mountain Dynamite’ {Whiskey, red apple, cinnamon, egg white and chocolate bitters}.
