We found a boat-shaped Kashmiri restobar in Navi Mumbai. It’s been under our nose all this while, and we finally made a visit to see what it has to offer.
Called Shikara, it’s the city’s only-boat themed restaurant that serves Kashmiri cuisine. Shikara's been around for a while and was established in 1993. There are three sections to choose from- the first being a Shikara or a houseboat, including an air-conditioned one, there are the traditional baithaks and then there are your sofas to lounge on. The decor is Kashmir-inspired and they often host live music sessions to keep the guests entertained.
Housed inside Hotel Highway View, it boasts of an artificial lake and an expansive menu. Imagine gorging on murgh do aab, bhuna gosht, saag gosht and more while you sip on a glass of wine or a cocktail. A meal for two with not cost you more than INR 2,000. And the spices are so heavenly that you wouldn't be able to resist.
So if you have been meaning to explore Kashmiri cuisine or have been looking to do something different, this may be it.
