Room On The Hill: Stay At A Cosy Bed & Breakfast Set Atop This Hill Station

The information in this post might be outdated

What Is It?

A lovely bed and breakfast atop Chotta Shimla’s hills, Sanjiv Aira’s Holme is simply a picture out of a happy-as-a-daisy Enid Blyton tale or the rainy rooftop most likely set in one of Ruskin Bond’s rampant stories. It is surrounded by deodar trees and apricot, has no television in the rooms and is just the getaway to truly, well, get away.

How Do I Get There?

To get to Shimla, you can go via Delhi which is close to seven hours away. Or you can take a train till Kalka, and then take a cab till Shimla. The B&B is about an hour from Shimla’s mall road.

What Is Great About It?

The owner, Billy who is an artist, stays in the house along with his three friendly dogs {Pema, Lilo and Cuddles – aww} and opens out two of the rooms for guests, both of which offer a view of the valley.

Meals can be provided here. One of the main attractions is breakfast, which is included in the package, and you can be served anything from eggs, toast and sausages, seasonal fruits. You can have breakfast in the sit out area which is beautiful.

If you’re wondering what to do out there, the living room has a large library, which you are welcome to use and borrow books from as well.

Anything Else?

Extra meals are on charge, and outside food is not allowed in the rooms, as it is a home. Go here simply if you wish to have a serene, quiet stay, read books, spend time in nature and go on walks around the cottage.

A room for two people is for INR 6,000 a night, and you can email sanjiv.malhans@gmail.com to enquire about your stay.
