If you're bored of your regular weekend getaways and are looking for something out-of-the-box, check out Sohana, a beautiful escape only about 2 hours away from the city. Overlooking the hills of Matheran and located amidst mango orchards, Sohana is an eco-retreat situated on a 100-acre property. Here you can not only take time off your busy routines but also indulge in some fun activities that will rejuvenate you and make you ready to take on the week.
The two-bedroom house that can house up to 8 people runs completely on solar power, so say bye to power cuts. The water you will use is drawn from a borewell and run through a process called ozonisation that makes it suitable to drink too. The bedrooms are air-conditioned for your comfort, however, the house is designed in a way that there is maximum natural cooling. You can even take a pleasant walk alongside river Pej that borders the orchard on the path designed.
Food for you will be prepared by a local lady who will whip up a simple yet delicious vegetarian or non-vegetarian fare (as per choice) which has to be informed to the hosts prior to your visit. You are free to cook your own meals and barbecue too!
Activities: Indulge in a game of table-tennis, fussball, carrom, table-tennis or swimming to refresh yourselves while you're at Sohana.
Price: Expect to shell out INR 14,000 per night for the entire villa. Maximum capacity is 10 guests. If you opt for their weekend pagacke, meals are included in the price.
