Rudransh, the host who owns this cottage is also the owner of the NGO Devrai Art village that helps tribal craftsmen by promoting their art. The homestay is in the same village and is easily accessible by road. The drive down to Panchgani from Mumbai will take at least four hours.
Once you get to Panchgani, the homestay is approximately 1.5 kilometres from the main Panchgani bus stand. And from the bus stand, you can either take a taxi to the homestay, or walk it down if you don’t have much of luggage. It’ll take you 10 to 15 minutes.
What's Unique About It?
The Devrai homestay is a villa that can house a couple or one person, as they only have a single bedroom to offer. Since it is run as an artist retreat, they like to know their guests and encourage writers, artists, photographers, designers, filmmakers or even nature enthusiasts. While booking, they want you to write about yourself and why you’d like to come down to Panchgani. For INR 2,009 per night, you can book the house.
Apart from this, the house is surrounded by greenery, and is absolutely serene and peaceful. It’s the perfect weekend getaway if you’re looking to just let your creative juices flow or get some inspiration.
The house has a very cosy vibe to it and has been done up really well with wooden decor. You’ll have access to the entire house and can also use the kitchen to cook your own stuff. They have a bookshelf so the guests can simply lounge around and read. They’ve even got hammocks out in the garden {during monsoons they may be removed}. What we especially love is that the home stay is perfect for anyone who loves to trek and walk around. You can trek up to the Dhom Dham lake nearby, or check out the waterfalls nearby.
