Stop By This Calangute Joint For Delicious Mutton Momos And Beef Thukpa
Shortcut
Chow Down
A tiny shack owned by Tibetan refugees in the most crowded part of Goa, Calungate, is easy to miss and skip amidst the bigger restaurants. Take our word for it, and stop by for a plate or two, for their lip-smacking momos are to die-for.
It’s the best place in Goa {yes, we claim so} for some hot steamy vegetarian and non-vegetarian momos alike. Non-vegetarian specialties include the chicken and mutton momos. For the herbivores, they really good cheese momos. The momos are freshly made and piping hot when served and juicy enough to get your hands messy. We’ll take a risk, and even declare them better than the Lajpat and Sarojini Nagar momos -coming from a Delhiite with love.
They also do class beef thukpa {INR 180}, reminiscent of those tiny cafes in Leh and Mcleodganj. Keep a lookout for their ‘dish of the day’.
#LBBTip: Be sure to mix the two hot chutneys before dipping your momos in it for the perfect flavour.
Sip On
They serve beer. That’s enough said. If for some reason, you are not in the mood for beer in Goa {shocking, we know}, how about cleansing your palette with their freshly squeezed juices? Watermelon juice, yes please.
So, We're Saying...
It’s one of those places you need to head to on a vacation for a cheap and delicious meal. The ever-so-happy combination of hot momos with a pint of chilled beer is what makes all of us happy and this place does exactly that, just kicking up a notch with its Goan vibe.
