When life gives you a lockdown, start a baking business. At least that's what Minal, the founder of Delite-ly decided to do when the pandemic hit. A lockdown baby, The Delite-ly is a home baking business that puts into play Minal's 10 years in the hospitality industry. Always wanting to start something of her own, she made the leap to starting her own brand this year.
She started out her business with creating kunafe, a Turkish pastry. But Minal took it one step further beyond just the classic option to create unique options that blend our classic Indian flavours with this Middle-Eastern specialty like her Gulab Jamun Kunafe. She added baklava to her menu and with that too, it went well beyond the classic to cook up intriguing flavours like Salted Chocolate Caramel Baklava and a Blueberry Cheesecake Baklava. If you've a nut allergy, then this nut-free version is the one to try! She also bakes other delish delights like a heady Persian Love Cake with almond sponge, pistachios, rose and saffron cream and hint of citrus when a Parsi client requested a cake for a special occasion along with her order of kunafe, and it soon became a signature dessert.
What I loved about Delitely is that pretty much everything is made from scratch, in-house (necessity is the mother of invention, isn't it) and Minal makes the kunafe pastry and even the cheese right at home. They make sure to use quality ingredients in their products.
