If you're a loyal user of The Ordinary skincare, you must be considering trying out their new hair care range. Or if you're hearing about it here first, this one's definitely for you. Busting myths around sulphates, the brand has recently launched a hair care line in India which includes a hair and body cleanser (shampoo), conditioner, and a moisturising serum. Over the course of two weeks, I tried the shampoo and conditioner (which is four hair washes for me) and the serum about 5 to 6 times. I can safely say that there are things I have learned about the range, and here's my experience while using them, all honest and unfiltered!

Before you dive into my experience, here's all you must know about my hair so that you can make an informed decision for yourself. Along with being curly, my hair is a bit frizzy (due to my diet), and where I stay, the humidity also plays a major role. In a metro city like Mumbai, where there's no way around pollution, my hair also soaks up the dust. Naturally, they become greasy if I fail to wash them every 3 days. You can now check out how The Ordinary products perform on hair like mine.

When I first opened the bottle, I was surprised to see its dewy texture. I have always used shampoos in liquid and lathering forms. It has next to no fragrance, which was also new to me, but once it mixes with the water on your wet hair, it has a slight refreshing fragrance. Neither flowery nor fruity, but just a burst of freshness! The shampoo contains an optimal amount of sulphate, which means that it does not create a lot of lather. In fact, you can hardly see it on your scalp, so don't worry and do not overuse it. After drying up, my hair actually separated out the dust particles, which I could knock off easily. Though there's nothing that I experienced to address this fear, but I did feel like I was using rigorous chemicals. So, I would use the cleanser once a week in the winter, and twice a week in the summer.

Before I even start talking about this conditioner, I just want to say that this one's a saviour! Here's why. After a thorough cleansing of your hair, the conditioner actually makes up for (if at all) any loss of smoothness. It has a firm, slightly milky texture. This makes it easy to apply and for your hair to hold on to. I loved how, even without any fragrance, I knew it was reviving my hair from all the dirt and cleaning. My hair was already silky while I was washing it! Concerning the post-dry situation, I did feel that my fear of chemicals had lessened because I was relieved to have removed the grease and pollution while still having smooth hair. The conditioner should definitely be your partner if you switch to The Ordinary shampoo. I would suggest that you always use them together.

Moisturizing my hair is necessary all year round due to the frizz and dryness. Even if you don't face this problem, moisturising is something you shouldn't skip. With this serum, I've discovered a simple way to provide the hydration my hair requires. It has a very fine, light, and milky texture, which is easy to blend with the hair. Following the instructions, I applied a single layer to my scalp using the dropper and massaged it with my fingers before going to bed. In the morning, there's not much of a change in my hair. However, it does look somewhat refreshed. After a couple of times of using it, I feel that this one takes time to soak in and moisturise the scalp, so I am giving it some time and waiting for noticeable results. In all, I recommend that this one can be a part of your everyday ritual if you want to get into the habit of caring for your hair before any concerns come up!

We had a brief conversation with Ms. Nicola Kilner from The Ordinary, where she gave some interesting insights into haircare and a few suggestions to go along with them. You can find all about it here.
