Ending the year with a bang, Kamala Mills gets another restaurant and bar in the hood: Theory, bringing us good food in small plates.

A New Space In The Mills

Theory is a European restaurant and bar run by the Magnanimous Group and will open to the public on December 19. Its decor is a cross between an upscale bar and a fine dining restaurant, complete with a long island bar for your drink dates. The decor is mostly black, with hints of burnt wood and brass. Wear your heels and best clothes to groove to their occasional DJ nights.

Theory has a unique menu they are offering with their novel concept of ‘small plates’. What does that entail you ask? It’s basically served in the form of appetisers, ie tapas – basically food that is appreciated in small quantities.

The menu includes great meat dishes like the French lobster bisue, honey and sweet marinated pumpkin soup, tuna carpaccio with ponzu vinaigrette and even a prawn carpaccio with tangy yuzu. Other lip-smacking dishes include the Belgian pork belly, that is served with edamame beans, diced pear, parsnip puree and lamb jus. For the vegetarians out there, there are some innovative dishes on the diverse menu. These include the caramelised plum and citrus salad, a yam gnocchi and even a unique beetroot carpaccio paired with goat cheese, honey balsamic dressing and roasted arugula.

Theory’s bar is a fantastic place for you to indulge in your boozy weekends and night outs. They offer an array of their signature cocktails. You can try out their Hickory Bong {created with tomato water and whiskey}, which is a subtle version of the Bloody Mary. Also try the Asian mojito {coconut, passion fruit and more}.

However, if you are not in the mood for alcohol, we say order the carrot-ginger-parsley and the orange-bell peppers mocktails to satiate yourself.

Theory opens up on 19 December, so we say head there post its launch and reserve a table for two for cocktails, tapas and more.
