This South Indian Restaurant In Borivali Does A Sumptuous Authentic Thali
If you're on the lookout for authentic South Indian food to satisfy your soul, your search invariably leads you to Matunga aka the South Indian food Mecca of this city. But what if we told you that we found one of the best South Indian thalis (we mean it!) in Borivali?
What Makes It Awesome?
The Special Thali at Banana Leaf in Borivali is the best example of an elaborate and authentic South Indian meal; it isn't a meal you need, it's a meal you deserve. Wholesome, light on the stomach, delicious, and pocket-friendly is the best way to describe this meal. An experience that we will cherish for the longest time. Priced at only INR 340, here's what you can expect: A bowl of rasam vada (fresh and crispy vadas dunked in pepper rasam), yummy Malabar curry that tastes like a desi version of Thai curry, dal fry, and mixed vegetables is what forms the core of the thali. You can choose between an appam, a neer dosa or a Malabar parotta to savour the flavours of the South with. We went for the classic flaky Malabar parotta. Between bisibele bath and steamed rice, we chose bisibele bhat (obviously). With curd and papad as accompaniments, end your meal on a high with a serving of their dessert-for-the-day (pre-decided and served). So we're saying...it might seem a little heavy on your pocket, but take our word for it; the price is definitely justified for the quantity and quality offered, not to forget the beautiful ambience and flawless service.
For purists, there is always good ol' thayyir saadham (curd rice). It works wonders, trust us. PS - They are spread across the city in Kandivali, Andheri and Ghatkopar too, so they're not really far away from where you are.
How Much Did It Cost?
Cost for two: INR 500 - INR 1,000
