What Makes It Awesome!

Colaba is a treasure full of hidden gems, if you look past the chaos. We did and found a shop that is reminiscent of a lost art. Fashion Parade has been humbly housing itself at Reay House, opposite The Taj Mahal Hotel since the 70s. Mr. Arif Shaikh has been running the establishment after his father passed on his legacy to him.

Mr. Shaikh sits at the shop along with his craftsmen, who are generally mired with the needlework on lamp shades. One of the oldest shops in the city that has retained the art of handmade lampshades, they aren’t fans of the usually pasted ones. Here. the frame is made and then the cloth is stitched on and every seam is taken care of.

The range starts at INR 300, going up to INR 5,000, depending on the size and intricacy of the work. Got a design in mind or off a board on Pinterest? You can show it here and they’ll replicate it for you.

They are open between 9:30 PM to 6:30 PM

Pro-Tip

Mr. Shaikh also keeps brass statues and lampstands (you might want to check these out too( but his love for lampshades is what he likes to focus on.
