Culture Vultures, You Can Watch 3 Amazing Plays In 3 Days This Week!

Shortcut

The Crafters Theatre is turning 3 and is hosting its first ever Crafters Theatre Festival on 8th, 9th and 10th December in Aram Nagar, Versova. All the three plays are based on important social issues which need to be discussed, and knowing the spectacular talent these students have, we’d recommend you don’t miss even a single show.

Tell Me More

Directed by Rohit Chaudhary, who graduated from National School of Drama and made a very recent appearance on silver screen in Bareilly Ki Barfi, the plays assimilate the best flavours of talent from the institute which is being successfully run by Sukaant Ray for the past 3 years.

What Are The Plays About?

The first play is a #metoo inspired piece written by the brilliant Mahesh Dattani called ‘30 Days In September’. It will tell you the story of child abuse in a simple household, explore a mother-daughter relationship and the complexities of finding pleasure in the pain. They play will be enacted in English and is recommended only for adults.

The second play is called ‘Jaati Hi Poocho Sadhu Ki’ and is a satirical masterpiece by Vijay Tendulkar. The screenplay throws light on the value of our degrees and the role of society in making or breaking our careers. They play will take you through the journey of the protagonist’s struggles in a society of free India. The play will be enacted in Hindi/Bhojpuri and is recommended only for adults.

The third and the last play called ‘Dance Like a Man’ will take you thorough the life of an Indian classical entertainer and his struggle with identity crises through gender biases and stereotypical roles when it comes to expressing one’s own life dreams and ambitions.
