Ask The Experts: 5 Quick Fixes To Spruce Up Your Home
Lighting
It is one aspect that gets neglected but can have a huge impact on a room. Dull lighting can immediately give a space a gloomy look and no amount of wall paint/coloured painting can fix it. If you are not planning to do major rewiring then invest in a couple of table/floor lamps depending on your budget and you will immediately see the difference.
It's important to bear in mind the space you are considering getting the lamp for, if it's a work area then it's better to stick to a bright white light, whereas in living rooms you may want diffused or warmer lighting.
LBB Recommends: Devansh's bamboo lamp is a great piece to add. It can help build a warm corner in your living room and the bamboo body gives it an earthy look as well. As it's cylindrical in shape, it doesn't take up too much space either.
Upholstery
It's crucial to have your sofa, curtains, cushions, table runners, accent chairs be from the same colour scheme. They most definitely don't need to match (in fact that could even get a bit boring), but a similar color palette for them in one room is key. Neutral colors also work for your main pieces like the sofa and curtains and one could play around with colors, textures or prints with the accessories like the runner, cushion covers or a bold accent chair.
If you already have all of the above in place then change to new cushion covers to change the look, and introduce a throw on the sofas.
LBB Recommends: Jamio Flarti's embroidered cushion cover set of five is a great addition. It's very neutral in colour, so you can add them to any coloured piece of furniture. Plus they are machine-washable which makes it very convenient to maintain them too.
Highlight A Wall
Textured walls from brands like Asian Paints, incorporating a wallpaper from Nilaya, decals from Amazon, or if you have the budget get a local artist to paint motifs on the wall of your liking — highlight a wall in your home to give it a good makeover.
You can also create a gallery wall with that which resonates with you like wall plate from your travels, vintage wooden carved panels, mirrors, paintings (you can opt for free digital prints from the net like Unsplash), even floating shelves with plants make for an interesting boho look.
LBB Recommends: Decor Production has a collection of floral wall decals on Amazon, which you can install yourself. They're self-adhesive, made of vinyl, and are waterproof, too.
Shift Things Around
Just changing the orientation of some of your furniture pieces can change the entire look of the room. Interchange the accessories from your center table to the shelf or from another room and watch the space get a completely fresh look.
Add An Accent Piece
Invest in an accent piece, maybe over time, but in the long run you will not regret it. It may be a coloured furniture piece that stands out and highlights the space, a great painting, a classic central furniture piece which we offer at Sanskriti Lifestyle, artwork from an artist you have been eying or even an accent chair can be a game changer. Build on your collection over time.
