Have you always wanted to spend the weekend doing something fun and adventurous? Then it can't get better than this 'one-night-two day' trek to Fort Harishchandragad. Being one of the favorite destinations for trekkers during every season, but it has a few special attractions especially during monsoon. The main attraction of this hill fort remains the Konkan Kada, an almost 1423M concave fall. It is a vertical overhang, a cliff which resembles the shape of a Cobra's hood, with a panoramic view of the surrounding hills and an enchanting sunset. Located in the Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra, this is one of the most challenging treks in the Western Ghats. Situated in the Malshej region of the ghats, to reach this fort there are seven routes and you will be taken via Pachnai (the easiest route form all seven).
There are two dates August 3-4 and August 10-11, but we'll focus on the former. You leave on Friday late night, at 12 AM and catch the Kasara local from CSMT. You reach Kasara at 3:30 AM, meet the team and reach the base village on Saturday morning. You have breakfast and then start your climb. You're exploring most of the day till you reach the base camp and rest for the night (there's bonfire and even live music). Sunday morning, you wake up and reach the base village, and then start our journey back to Kasara and and then back home.
The price ranges from INR 1,599 to INR 1,799 which includes transportation from Kasara to Kasara, 2 breakfasts, lunch, dinner, tent charges and entry fees. Make sure you carry enough water, snacks and warm clothing to keep you going.
