What is It?

South Indian, check. North Indian cuisine and snacks, check. Chinese, pizzas, (extensive) tandoor starters, check. Beverages, and desserts, also check. Udipi Vihar in Goregaon East is a homely multi-cuisine restaurant that always has a queue of people waiting in line waiting to eat in modest ambiance. Known for their elaborate lunch buffets, the food here, all vegetarian, is simple but yummy. The ambiance is very normal. Both those factors put together, this place is good value for its super affordable prices.

Chow Down

The moment you hear Udipi Vihar, you think South India. And they do full justice to that part of the menu. Their Mysore and rawa masala dosas, medu vadas, and filter coffee are strongly recommended (everything is under INR 120). But is it a strict south Indian restaurant? Not at all, because their north Indian preparations are just as finger licking. Go for their classic paneer kadai (INR 190) paired with your choice of dal and a range of bread to opt from.

But what drives Udipi Vihar patrons crazy is their elaborate lunch buffet, priced at just INR 150 (plus taxes) which includes two types of dal, three vegetable dishes, rice, roti, and desserts.  The icing on the cake? Their staff which is efficient and humble.

So, We’re Saying…

If you’ve been struggling to find non-oily, comparatively light food that you could possibly eat for days together without your system feeling upset, Udipi Vihar is it.
