What's Happening

"When one has tasted watermelons, one knows what angels eat." This quote by Mark Twain was probably the inspiration behind a one-of-a-kind Watermelon Festival that's happening at Sange village, a humble little settlement in the Wada district of Maharashtra. And Adventure Geek, a local tour agency, is organising a bike ride to the village (bike riders, take note) for you to experience it all.

With temperatures almost already soaring up, a juicy watermelon is the need of the hour, and a festival where you get to explore a farm full of watermelons and gorge on lip-smacking watermelon ice creams and shakes is nothing less than a relief.

There's unlimited watermelon-tasting, a bullock-cart ride, fun games related to the fruit, and you also get to witness the local Tarpa dance by the residents of the village. The beauty of this event is that it retains the authenticity of all things local and allows you to garner raw experiences at Sange village. The inhabitants there welcome you with a local watermelon drink, followed by a session on agro-tourism. All of this comes for INR 1,500. And if you love to chomp on watermelons, and enjoy riding a bike, this event is for you.

How's The Venue

Wada, or Vada, falls under the Palghar district of the State, and is famous for two of its rivers flowing through the villages. They're known as Vaitarna and Pinjal. The main source of income for the Adivasis and Kolis of Wada, is agriculture. Sange nestles amidst the greenery of Wada and this festival is only going to add to the beauty of the place.

Make A Note

Your meeting point will be near the Fountain Hotel, near the Varsava Bridge on National Highway 8. Make sure you reach there by 5:45 AM on Sunday. Along with yourself, bring in some zeal and energy to explore something new and fun.
