YHAI is an autonomous organisation that organises trekking, mountaineering, nature study, family camping and sailing. With thousands of hostels spread across the world, you can literally stay at any of those without spending much, if you plan ahead.

What Is It?

YHAI is organising The Great Lakes Trek in Kashmir – a very popular trek that takes you across seven lakes in the beautiful Kashmir. A 10-day trip that’ll have you camping around lakes like Gadsar, Satsar and Gangabal, the trek is of moderate difficulty and anybody above the age of 14 can join in.

The cost of INR 8,400 per person includes food, boarding, lodging, equipment, group insurance, forest entry and trekking guidance. The nearest airport is Srinagar from where you’ll need to reach the starting point – Sonmarg base camp. The trip will commence on August 5 and you can join the groups till August 15. Check out the list of groups and open spots here.

Now, we worked out the cost with flights till Srinagar and it came down to INR 8,400 + INR 7,500 approx. {return} = INR 15,900. The trip requires you to be a member of YHAI, and it’s super easy to get one. One can sign up online or at their Mumbai unit at Parel. If you’re not into memberships, we found another alternative here. It’ll cost you INR 12,700 for 8 days.

P.S. The prices for flights mentioned above are as per today, July 5, 2017. They may increase/decrease, depending on the dates you book them on.

So, We're Saying...

If you’ve always wanted to visit Kashmir and haven’t been able to, make the most of the long weekend coming up in August and take off.

#LBBTip

The trip dates are falling on the August long weekend {Aug 12-15}, so you’ll have to take less leaves.
