Zardozi Embroidery Workshop

What's Happening

Zardozi is a Persian term where 'zar' stands for 'gold' and 'dozi' means 'work'. This art form is a type of metal embroidery that was used to adorn the walls of royal tents, scabbards, wall hangings and was also a part of the paraphernalia of royal horses and elephants.

The entire artform depends upon making elaborate designs using gold and silver threads with precious stones and studded pearls.

While earlier the embroidery was done with pure silver wires and real gold leaves, artisans and craftsmen now make use of a combination of copper wire with gold or silver polish and silk thread.

This workshop at Iteeha Studio will teach you the basics of handling embroidery threads and learning different patterns. After that, you will make a small composition with the stitches learned during the initial class.

The class will take place on Saturday, September 21, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
