Shortcut

With a special place for Assamese culture in the heart of Bengal, it is nothing new that both the states share a lot in common. Most importantly, the love for food. So imagine our delight when we stumbled upon Jaluk, a restaurant serving authentic Assamese cuisine.

What Makes It Awesome

Jaluk is a small outlet serving hot piping flavours straight from the land of Brahmaputra. Located in the narrow lanes of Sector 5 of Salt Lake, Jaluk is a cosy place with a seating capacity of 20 people. You will find touches of Assamese culture reflected in the decor - for instance, Jaapi, or the Assamese conical hat, at the entrance, and photos depicting the culture and art forms of Assam.

Among the dishes worth trying here are chicken with bamboo shoot (or with banana flower), masoor pitika, duck curry and the seasonal veg thali. We highly recommend you have the pork with lai xaag if you are a pork addict. The dishes are simple without compromising on taste buds. The average cost for two is around INR 300-500.

What Could Be Better

We wish to see some more pork dishes on the menu as no Assamese food is compete without 'gahori' aka pork.

Pro-Tip

Don't bring your car here as parking could be an issue.
