A Charkha Story in Shivaji Nagar is reviving the Khadi movement by bringing a group of skilled artisans to create 100% cotton and silk Khadi fabrics and turning them into chic and sustainable ready-to-wear garments.
Founded by the trust of Burdwan Khadi Gramyog Samiti, A Charkha Story is officially certified by the Khadi & Village Industries Commission (KVIC) and bears the approval of the Ministry Of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India. Here, artisans, with their nimble hands, master the age-old art of weaving on a charkha, a term that lends its essence to the very name of this establishment. The result? Homespun fabric, a symphony of simplicity, born of skilled hands in West Bengal, caressing your skin with tenderness and gracefully draping your frame.
The store, albeit small in size, has many beautifully crafted options for both men and women. Whether you're looking for everyday casual or ethnic wear for a special occasion, A Charkha Story has it all! The prices are high, but considering the amount of work and effort that goes into making each garment by hand, it seems reasonable. We loved their collection of tailored Nehru jackets, starting at INR 1,800, that would look traditionally dapper on any special occasion. The Khadi shirts in solid colours and prints, starting at INR 1,500, would pair well with any chinos to give you that preppy look. They also have a nice collection of kurta for festive occasions.
