What Makes It Awesome?

Being a Bengali and staying out of home (Jamshedpur), I’m always on the look-out for authentic Bengali food in the city. Flavoro’so was one such finding and let me tell you , the food there will bring a smile on your face  So I was taken to this place by my childhood buddy ,some two-weeks before Durga Puja the mood of Durga Thakur was just setting in and all I could feel was the vibe of Pujo and some delicious bong food.

It’s a small place located in a residential area in Vimanagar, Pune. As soon as you enter, the waiter will welcome you with a big smile. The ambience is calm and warm, perfect for a group dinner or lunch.

I asked the waiter to get the menu, which a variety of ranges to offer and I ended up ordering all of those things that I was eagerly waiting to savour from a couple of days. While I was waiting for it, all possible thoughts of how the food will be, kept crossing my mind. Finally, the wait was over(felt like a lifetime, trust me!!! ) and there it was- Phulko luchchi, Pabda shorshe, Mutton Dak Bunglo & plain rice.

Let me tell you, the pics here can’t even do justice until and unless you try this place.

Phulko Luchchi: Soft crisp, puffed Flatbread made of fine flour.

Pabda Shorshe– Basically, catfish prepared in mustard paste along with some green chillies and cooked in mustard oil. The flavour of the oil adds a unique taste to this dish. This is by far one of the most famous Bengali dishes one will ever come across, mostly because of the style of preparation.

Chop: There are three-types of chops here :
Dimer Devil, which are the boiled eggs chops. One half of a boiled egg wrapped nicely with a potato stuffing, coated in bread crumbs and batter & deep fried.

Next is the Fish chop, which is my favourite. Fish stuffing prepared and made into round shapes dipped in batter and then deep-fried.
Lastly, Mochaar chop, Ahhhh!! The most unique one and rarely found here. Mocha is the flower found on a banana tree, very difficult to peel and the preparation also is unique. Are you drooling yet ??!!

The Main Course: Plain Bhaat, Mutton Dak Bungalow(a must-try here), Luchchi & Pabda Shorshe.

Dak Bungalows used to be pretty basic houses with bare minimum supplies, usually taken care of by a Khansamah (house-steward) or durwan who also cooked meals for the travellers. That is how this dish gets its funny name. So its mutton cooked inside a dak bungalow :). Unique, isn’t it?

Nolen-Gurer Ice Cream: This is the USP of this place and I swear by it. Rich and creamy with the sweet smell of Nolen gur. One spoon of this and I promise you will be in heaven. You try this once and you'll surely come back!

Ambience:
The chefs here amazed me with the palette of spices and the form of cooking and I can't wait to go back and try out rest of the items there.
