Located on Tilak Road at Sadashiv Peth, Badshahi Boarding House has been serving authentic and delicious Maharashtrian thalis, starting at INR 100, for over seven decades!

Tell Me More

Badshahi is a quaint humble food joint with stone tile flooring, erstwhile wooden furniture and old ceiling fans. The price of the thali changes daily, depending on the veg curry or gravy made on that particular day. But on no given day, the price will exceed beyond INR 100.

Badshahi is all about the old-school nostalgia. Operating during two slots – from 11.45 am to 3.00 pm, and from 8.00 pm to 10.00 pm, this place is perpetually crowded with loyal patrons. Once you enter, you need to take a coupon. One of the staff members will write your name on a black slate. You pay him for the food and wait until your turn comes.

An unlimited thali has rice, phulkas, dry and gravy sabzi, amti, chutney and comes with a glass of buttermilk. You can take an additional fruit salad for INR 30 and curd for INR 15. For desserts, try the gulab jamun for INR 25.

So, We're Saying...

Badshahi is a place where you go for the food, the nostalgia and the courteous service. It’s absolute bare-bones, so don’t expect fancy air-conditioned interiors. The thali is yum and freakishly affordable. If you’re looking for a hidden gem in the city, which is true to the Puneri culture, this is the place to be!
