Food and Kolkata? A timeless tale of love! Since forever, this city has safeguarded old restaurants and bakeries, keeping their legacy alive with unwavering dedication. For desserts as fluffy as clouds and sugar rush that do not stop at one bite, visit these top bakeries in Kolkata!

Here's A List Of 12 Best Bakeries In Kolkata

Nahoum And Sons

Nahoum's would be Kolkata's sweet spot if there were one. Established in 1902 by Baghdadi Jew Nahoum Israel Mordecai, who used to sell his baked goods door-to-door, this 121-year-old New Market treasure has stood the test of time. Along with Middle Eastern and Jewish sweets like baklava and challah bread, Nahoum's introduced western sweets like brownies and cream puffs. Queues for their Plum Cake are longer than a Durga Puja pandal line making it the undisputed Christmas king. Don't stop there, though; you must try the renowned macarons, chicken patties, lemon tarts, rum balls, Black Forest pastries, Madeira cake, and kakas (caraway cookies).

The Bakery – Hyatt Regency

All of you are welcome at The Bakery, a relaxing area in the Hyatt Regency Kolkata lobby that is known for its baked goods and confections. Bespoke cakes, signature desserts, Indian sweets, real sourdough, and multigrain bread, or perhaps some potato and rosemary garlic bread and masala brioche? Many customers come in specifically for the coffee, so the soft-centered chocolate cookie that is provided with it is popular. They also offer numerous gluten-free and eggless options as well.

Must Try: Fresh Pineapple Cake, Oreo Cruffin, Rose Gehwar, and the Signature Black Forest Cake

8th Day Café And Bakery

Both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options are equally available, and vegans can even purchase soy milk for an additional INR 40. Both the amount and quality are excellent. Delectable pastries go well with the thick, fragrant coffee. The staff is pleasant and accommodating, making for an inviting and welcoming environment. This cafe is a must-visit for coffee lovers, whether they're looking for a fast caffeine dose or a leisurely brunch. Their Tiramisu is so delicious that I could eat ten.

A little bistro in the well-known Gariahat Golpark neighbourhood on the bustling Purna Das Road. It is well-known for its bakery goods, particularly cakes and pastries, which can be tailored to individual requirements. The chef is incredibly adaptable. There are even alternatives that are eggless and sugar-free. A little pricey, but the standards and quality are unwavering. The Rouge has an extensive selection of delectable, soft cupcakes. The Bakery At The Lalit Great Eastern

It is arguably the city's oldest bakery, and even in its present incarnation, it still exudes an air of the past. The treats are of great quality. The 48-seater location, which features a bakery display kitchen, is well-known for being the biggest bakery in British India and offers the largest selection of healthy breads that are cholesterol-free. It's a little hard to believe a bakery that has been there for nearly 180 years is still kept up with the same appearance.

Flurys

Get a table by the window while the fast-paced world outside passes you by. I've always liked the restaurant because of the variety of cakes and pastries, and if you're searching for a cake for any occasion, this is the place to go. You must try the Rum balls, which are made with rum, cocoa, and chocolate sponge cake. There are international cakes, puddings, chocolates, and pastries on the menu. One of Flurys' most popular offerings is high tea.

Shuktara Cakes

They serve fantastic cakes that are better than the city's alleged big shots. They are baked to perfection and leave no aftertaste of sugar or oil. I love their Poppy Mosambi the most. Children adore their financiers and ginger walnut cake. To put it another way, it is a French bakery with a charitable focus that is operated by people with special needs, mostly orphans. The employees are taught to bake a variety of classic French dishes. I tried and loved their Madeleines, biscuits, and financiers.

With dishes like Citrus Quinoa Salad with orange salsa, Vanilla Panna Cotta with Raspberry Jelly & Matcha Sponge, a colourful Mezze Platter, and Cappuccino di Tarturo Nero with parmesan-dusted churros, the menu is a tribute to Italian and Mediterranean flavours.

King's Bakery

They offer a bakery as well as a small shopping area where you can get instant ramen and other Korean treats. They have some K-pop idol merchandise in addition to cuisine. The atmosphere in the cafe is homely, owing to the fact that this place was converted from a house into a dining hub. If you don't mind the sweetness, we would strongly suggest the Dakgangjeong and Tteokbokki fried chicken.
