Kolkata People! Here Is Our Guide To Cafes That We Checked Out In 2020
Square Foot Cafe
Located next to Urbana, Square Foot Cafe is a quaint, pretty-looking cafe that's totally gonna light up your Instagram feed. They've also got an outdoor seating area where you can chill with your gang while munching on your favourite food. They are pet-friendly and keep organising different kinds of events and workshops you can participate in.
Symi Cafe
Black Brick Cafe
Located right opposite Momo Plaza (exactly where Chai Break was earlier), Black Brick Cafe boasts of an amazing spread of Chinese, Italian, American and Thai dishes. We loved the Pan-Fried Noodles, Spaghetti Stroganoff, Parmesan Potatoes, Sesame Chicken and the Mudpie (you can't leave without trying it!). The pizzas are great too.
Cafe Offbeat - Up There
The city is now home to a kickass rooftop cafe with stunning views! Say hello to Cafe Offbeat Up There - a rooftop bar and sunset cafe on EM Bypass (the Offbeat CCU building guys!) that overlooks a lake offering breathtaking views of the city. Offbeat CCU's latest venture, the rooftop cafe is where you need to be if you can't get enough of sunsets (and if you're lucky, you might just see the moon rise while the sun is setting!).
Zizzie Bistro
Located in Dhakuria, Zizzie Cafe Bistro is the city's first 3D cafe that serves a mix of Chinese, Italian and Continental food. Think, pizza, pasta, noodle and rice bowls, dumplings, mains as well as salads and stuff. Done up in monochrome colours with fun illustrations adorning the walls, the place creates an illusion as soon as you enter. The white interiors create a stark contrast outlined in black.
Wok'ies
Wok'ies is the city's first ever two-dimensional cafe that beautifully blends reality with illusion. The white interiors create a stark contrast with natural elements outlined in black. It's like entering a hand drawn cartoon or sketch done in white with edges outlined with uneven black lines. They serve an array of Asian dishes. From soup, salad and starters to mains, dimsums and combo meal bowls, they serve it all.
Kafe Mozaik
Located on Ballygunge Circular Road, Kafe Mozaik serves a wide selection of Mughlai, North Indian, Chinese and Continental food. The place has a very casual and contemporary vibe to it with the entrance lined with potted plants and interiors made of wood and soft leathers. The menu offers a nice mix of different kinds of soup, salad, burgers, pizzas, appetisers, kebabs, pasta, noodles, rice, Chinese and North Indian mains, biryani, shakes, mocktails and dessert.
Cafe Na-Ru-Meg
This one opens as early as 8am and you should drop in here for breakfast. Located on Raja Basanta Ray Road (in the same building as the Nameg store), this one is a cycle-themed cafe with a very green, earthy and rustic setup. Named after the three founders, Na-Ru-Meg is spacious and offers beautiful views of the green neighbourhood outside. The cafe serves a wide selection of Continental and finger food. Some of the must-tries include Cajun Potato, BBQ Chicken Wings, Aglio Olio pasta, Beer Batter Fish Fry, Fish Meuniere, cottage cheese and grilled chicken steaks, and the pizzas.
La Macario Cafe
La Macario has all you need to light up your Instagram feed and satisfy those crazy food cravings. The space is done up beautifully in shades of yellow, green and grey with eco-friendly interiors, potted plants, saplings on every table and creepers hanging from the ceiling. The menu is a nice mix of Italian, Thai and Lebanese food along with vegan and keto-friendly options for all you people on a diet.
