Butterfly Beach is the answer to the offbeat place you are searching for, while on your trip to Goa. Nestled in South Goa, it is a go-to from November to March, especially from Agonda beach or Palolem beach. Even though you will find it on pretty much every list, its connectivity is what keeps most people from going there, keeping this beach secluded. That’s also how it gets its nickname, ‘Honeymoon beach’.
This beach is perfect for couples or even a group of friends or family to spend some quality time in almost privacy. It gets even more romantic as you prepare to watch that beautiful setting sun. Now just imagining that, should get you packing a little picnic apart from the must carry sunglasses, sunscreen, UV protect umbrella, lots of water and swimwear. Don’t forget to carry food and everything else you might need as there is absolutely no infrastructure.
However, you may be wondering why it is called Butterfly Beach. It is because of both the shape being in the form of a butterfly and you can see a whole lot of actual butterflies there. But it doesn’t stop at that. You get to see dolphins swimming around, you can snorkel and as the tide drops, you can sight crabs, sea urchins, sea cucumbers and even gold fish.
If going into the water isn’t your thing, read a book while basking in the sun on your towel or try your hand at rock climbing. You can also ride the canoe or sit back and marvel in the beauty that is nature. You can trek around and even to reach there for about two hours through the network-less forest from the parking lot. Just follow the sound of the waves to get there. You can alternatively take the safer, recommended route of taking the boat from the neighbouring beaches of Agonda, Palolem or Patnem, which costs about a thousand rupees.
