It is said that Banaras has been blessed with food items that can provide you with ultimate salvation and trust me once you drop by this place, you would know why So suggested by one of my friends, Lost Recipes, a new restaurant located in Wakad has interesting options in their menu starting from Fara to Kachori to Thandai and much more. A small and sweet place with quite a classy ambience with unique props kept and also decent background music being played. So after ages got to try some authentic North Indian cuisine and I must say this place is worth a visit. Let us start with my food journey over here, shall we?
Started with their Kulhad Chai and this is one of the must-have a drink. Tea is served in Kulhads or earthen cups creates an altogether different aroma. Kulhad Chai and winters just complimented each other. So had the chai with some chatpata snack which was Potato Wheels. The dish was quite tasty, crispy, slightly sweet and presented quite well.
Moving over I am sure there won’t be a single person saying a No to this. Of course, how can one forget their Golgappas? Had tried their normal and Special Meetha Golgappa. The crispy Golgappas were filled with a spicy mixture of boiled potatoes and then topped with tangy and sweet chutney along with other spices. It was like a burst of different flavours once you put them in your mouth.
Then Fara, which I tasted for the first time. It's a typical North Indian dish which people usually prefer having at the time of festivals. So had tried in Rice and Bajra Base. Both of them tasted quite good. Then finally from the main course what I was craving for was The Authentic Banarasi Veg Thali and Banarasi Chicken Thali. No words to describe this and nothing could have been better than this! The Thalis were simple yet mouth-watering and extremely nourishing food prepared with pure ingredients. Personally liked the chicken one a lot! The thali consisted of chicken curry, rotis, rice and dahl. The chicken was cooked to perfection and the overall presentation was good.
Of course, the Banarasi style lassi cant is missed over here. Had tasted Special Banarasi Mix Fruit Lassi and Coconut Flavor Lassi. A total nostalgic moment for me and the taste reminded me of the time when I had visited Varanasi.
The entire meal ended on a sweet note with their hot Gulab Jamun and Laung Lata. The Laung Lata is a delicious sweet popular in Varanasi and delight if you are a sweet lover. It was served hot and was simply yum!
So concluding, the staff over here were very courteous and the service was good. One should drop by this place to gorge onto some delicious, authentic North Indian delicacies. Honesty the price is average compared to the food quantity and taste.
