Not Just Vanilla: This Chaiwalla's Chocolate Tea Has Us Drooling

We found this chaiwalla who is giving innovative twists to the legendary Kolkata bhaarer cha — including adding chocolate!

If you exit the Rabindra Sarovar Metro Station through Gate No. 6 {the one that is towards Swiss Park}, you’ll find this small thela on the street called Tripti selling a range of hot beverages. If you love chai and are open to tweaks in your cuppa, then you’lll love this place.

The little kiosk serves up chocolate chai that has the internet going crazy. For just INR 25 {for the small cup}, shivering Kolkatans are lining up for a cuppa that’ll keep them warm. Not just chai, Tripti also has some fun coffee flavours you need to try.

They also have malai chai, malai kesar chai, chocolate chai and even special chocolate cream coffee! Tripti is super  popular {you can thank social media for that} so you can expect a but of a wait.

The stall was started by Sujoy and his brother as an extension of their father’s tea shop. They also stock lassi in a variety of flavours — chocolate, kesar, special malai kesar lassi and more. The brothers say that they get close to 300 customers per day.  They stay open from 9am to 10pm, all days of the week.
