11 Dates Of Christmas: Make It Magical And Boozy

The information in this post might be outdated

We may not be blessed with a white Christmas in Delhi, but we can still make it a beautiful one. Think misty evenings, pretty lights, good food, a glass or two of your favourite bubbly and of course, the right company to go with it all. We’re telling you where to head for the perfect christmas celebrations. It’s going to be a wintery date amidst green pines and red wines

Fio Cookhouse

Fio has one of the most charming al fresco areas, and when it’s done up in fairy lights, there’s little we can complain about. Treat your Christmas date to pitchers of mulled wine infused with star aniseed and cinnamon, roast turkey and the traditional plum cake.

Ek Bar

Ek date, ek bar. If you can’t decide between high tea and drinks, just head to Ek Bar. Drink Royal Indian Punch out of a teacup, dig into some delicacies like the Ek Bar Granola Bar {dahivalla ice cream, coriander, avocado and imli gel}, chill with the elephant on the wall and get to know each other even more.

Coast Cafe

Spicy Keralan food {do yourselves a favour and order the Prawn Moilee with Appams}, a wide range of cocktails {we love the Moscow Mule} and a balcony overlooking the not-so-crowded part of Hauz Khas Village. You can also cosy up indoors and share a scoop of their delectable home-made ice cream.

Cafe Diva

Italian Roast Turkey, Duck Confit, Figgy Pudding and a sparkling wine. If you and your SO live for food, make reservations here right away. The golden Christmas decor and the red stocking serving as a cutlery holder make the experience all the more festive.

Lutyens Cocktail House

If you want a date right out of a movie, going classy at Lutyens Cocktail House is one way. Sip on signature cocktails such as the Apple Cigar {whiskey, clover, smoked candy, apple juice} or the Summertini {a concoction involving gin, cucumber, sage, cinnamon vodka wash} and pick on finger food like Truffle Fries and Bacon Popcorn. Conversation is bound to follow.

Le Bistro Du Parc

If you’re going on Christmas eve, enjoy a five course menu complete with helpings of Champagne. For Christmas day, they have a special brunch prepared {and Santa might be coming}. However, we’re waiting for their Christmas jazz night, out by the park in candlelight with French Christmas goodies.

Vibe- The Sky Bar

For a cocktail-heavy date {we’re partial to the sweet Bubblegum Cocktail, the refreshing Magic Guzzle and intense Laughing Zombie and the khatta Achari Mojito}, try Vibe. We recommend pairing these with their yum finger food like the Blue Cheese Malai Tikka. All this ten floors up, with billowy curtains and a gorgeous view.

Belgian Beer Cafe

It’s a long way to Belgian Beer Cafe, but once you’re settled in the woody restaurant, enjoy the bay windows, the energetic vibe and of course, the beer cocktails. For eats, take a look at their Hoppetisers. We recommend the Beer Battered Calamari.

Rose Cafe

The charming Rose Cafe shuts shop by 9pm so bookmark it for the day or evening. We recommend sitting outside, ordering sangria by the pitcher and overdosing on their Bacon Cheese Jalapeno Tarts. Followed by freshly-made waffles, of course.

Sky High

Go here simply for the pebbled outdoors and bask in the sun. Add to this equation a drink or two {make sure their liquor license is in, of course} and a tandoori platter and you’ve got yourselves a desi but fun Christmas celebration.

Diggin

If there’s one place that looks festive all year round, it’s Diggin. With its twinkling fairy lights and large bay windows, it’s always an ideal place for dinner. They may not have wine but they have a temperature coffee {an espresso shot with a scoop of ice cream}, Baked Goat Cheese and Chicken Legs stuffed with Bacon.
