There's a new food place in town and we can hardly control our excitement.
Owned by the same guys behind My Big Fat Belly, Dil Desi Dhaba is a new cloud kitchen in Picnic Garden that's killing it with its selection of North Indian and Punjabi food. Kebabs, tandoor, rice bowls, biryani, different kinds of breads and mains, including khichdi - this cloud kitchen left me impressed with its extensive menu.
I ordered the chef special Moga Ka Achari Paneer Tikka, Jammu Rajma Curry with Jeera Pyaz Ka Pulao, Patiala Ka Rara Meat and Amritsari Kulcha and loved every bite of it. Marinated in tandoori spices and char grilled with a dash of homemade pickle masala, the paneer was super soft and combined with the mint chutney and onions made for a perfect appetiser. The rajma had a nice flavour of butter besides all the masalas of course. The kulcha was crisp on the outside and soft on the inside while the mutton was tender cooked in a super spicy made with minced meat (not for the faint-hearted!).
The weather right now calls for a hot, piping bowl of khichdi but if you're not in the mood to cook, we'd highly recommend Dil Desi Dhaba's Subz Khichdi or the Chicken Tikka Masala Khichdi if you're a non-vegetarian. They've also got Keema Masala Biryani if that's what you're craving for.
