What Makes It Awesome

Garchumuk district is located in Howrah, West Bengal, at the convergence of River Hooghly and River Damodar. It offers picturesque views of the Ganges and is now emerging as a loved and popular tourist destination ideal for a weekend tour. What makes this place even more special is that you can visit Garchumuk any time of the year. The monsoons are great due to the greenery and the foaming waters of the barrage, and the winters are just perfect for enjoying the sun and the chill.

Garchumuk is famously known for its Deer Park, dotted with thick subtropical forest. It is a lush green sacred forest that houses innumerable deer. Not only will you spot numerous deer here, but it is also a perfect place for bird watching. You'll find a variety of birds here, like Koel, Papia, Tree Pipit, and Rose Ring Parakeet. Another prime attraction of Garchumuk is a beautiful barrage, popularly known as the Atanna Gate. It is a water barrage where visitors can see the gate with 58 locks. During winter, visitors can spot rare migratory birds flying from Central Asia and Ladakh to Garchumuk.

For all photography and nature enthusiasts, visit Gadiara, a small town nestled near Garchumuk, which is the point of convergence of the Hooghly River, Rupnarayan River and Damodar River. Take a trip to the Fort Morning Ton, which is the ruins of an English Fort. You can also enjoy a river cruise here, one of the famous activities carried out by tourists.

If you wish to stay here for a day or two and take in as much natural beauty as you possibly can, then book an overnight private budget hotel nearby. It offers all standard facilities like double-bedded rooms with attached Western bathrooms, TV, comfy beds, car parking, and electric generators. It is located beside the river and a few minutes walk from the Deer Park, offering scrumptious authentic Bengali food to visitors.
