What Makes It Awesome

There's no denying that accessories can make or break a look, but breaking your bank to get the look makes no sense. So, we hit the street stalls along Gariahat to pick affordable jewellery for the season, and got lost in the insane variety of stuff we found there.

Jhumkas to danglers, studs and hoops, Gariahat market is the best place to check if you're hoping to pick trendy earrings, and Afghan jewellery, which is on the rise now. Jhumkas never go out of style, and we found different kinds of them in every stall --simple to tiered ones. Gamchha clothing is all around us, and we picked up quite a lot of chic looking earrings to team it with. For a pretty day look, pick the light thread woven jewellery. What we loved best, however, were the vintage looking Rajasthani earrings that came detailed with colourful miniature figurines. Prices of the earrings start at INR 70.

The Gariahat stalls have a stunning variety of neck pieces. We found simple, chunky and even stone-inlayed chokers to team with Indian and western wear. Dig statement jewellery and looking for affordable options? Pick up Buddha and Ganesha heads, cloth and conch pieces, and South Indian temple-style jewellery. Also, look out for quirky painted and lacquered wooden necklaces with tribal motifs. Prices of the necklaces start at INR 120.

Pro-Tip

Hand adornments were mostly available in metal, but we also found some gamcha-bound ones. You'll spot ornate armlets too in a few stalls here. Stone studded or topped with animal heads, the bangles and cuffs here start at INR 120.
