Being a foodie, trying new cuisines is something I always look forward to. While exploring Bhumkar Chowk in Wakad, I came across Odisha hotel which seemed like an inviting home-style Odia eatery. As soon as I entered, the smell of fish curries and aromatic rice wafted in the air.
The owners as well as serves welcomed us and recommended I try their authentic delicacies which included different types of bhaja, dalma, rice and seafood thalis. I ordered dalma, rice, karela chips, roti, besar curry & veg chop followed by crab curry and chicken thali.
Odia cuisine is known for crab delicacies. Naturally, this place served amazing crab and Ilish gravies. The besar curry which is veggies in mustard paste took the trophy due to its authentic flavour. The dalma fell short of my expectations though.
The kheeri is something you all should try. Creamy, flavourful and thick, it is made of special jaggery. All these delicacies came for just INR 800. Sea-food lovers will be very happy to see their elaborate sea-food menu. Right from Ilish mach to crab thali, you have a variety to explore. What I loved the most was the fact that they served food in big brass thaals.
