What Makes It Awesome

Another day, another place named after Rabindranath Tagore. No surprises! We are talking about the Rabindranath Tagore Centre, also popularly known as ICCR (Indian Council for Cultural Relations) in Ho Chi Minh Sarani.

The Rabindranath Tagore Centre (RTC) is the cultural flagship of ICCR in India. ICCR was originally designed by Charles Correa and then completed by architect Dulal Mukherjee. The marvelous building, with a glass atrium, is spread across four floors, and located right opposite the American Embassy.

With the intention to promote cross-border culture, ICCR intends to explore meaningful academic and artistic exchanges in India's eastern and north-eastern region. The building houses several art galleries, library, lecture and seminar rooms, a cafe, a souvenir shop and an auditorium.

You are sure to satiate your thirst for art here. From dance recitals to plays, from classical music performances to poetry recitals and seminars, ICCR conducts innumerable art-related events for like-minded people of the city. You can attend Indian classical dance recitals comprising Odissi, Kathak and Manipuri, performances of Tagore's plays, ghazal recitals, among other events. If you're a person inspired by paintings, you should definitely check out the Jamini Roy, Nandalal Bose and Abanindranath Tagore galleries. The Nandalal Bose gallery is the largest among all the galleries in the building.
