India Imprints is a handicraft store that has just opened recently at Prabhat Road. Touting themselves as a ‘unique’ store, they try out new combinations of materials and traditional designs. We decided to pay a visit to their store ourselves and here’s some great stuff we spotted.

Tell Me More

Started by Aparna Phadke, India Imprints is a concept store which houses their own ethnic label – Indo Mood – as well as a couple of other brands. What’s great is that they don’t just source these products from artisans across the country, they also collaborate with them to create one-of-a-kind pieces that you really wouldn’t find elsewhere. One such example is a beautiful georgette sari with Ajrakh work – hand block-printed, priced at INR 1399. Yet another, the pièce de résistance, is a hand-painted pen kalamkari design on a pure hand-woven desi tussar sari. This sari is one of our favourites and features a village scene with traditional motifs and can cost around INR 18,000.

Other specialities include their buttery-soft muslin stoles, kurtis, kurtas, and shift-dresses in ikkat, indigo, and ajrakh patterns – from their own brand, Indo Mood. We liked Clay Chronicles’ pottery, priced between INR 300 for shot glasses, to INR 2500 for a casserole dish. Aathavan’s trays feature khand fabric and regional art, which we think would make a nice addition to your household, or even a great housewarming gift. When you stop by, make sure you check out Rekh’s wooden tea-light holders, Ssizling Beads’ jewellery priced from INR 6000 upwards and chemical-free bath and body products by SkinMudra.

We absolutely loved Urmee’s traditional jewellery and picked up one of their bangles with precious stones for INR 735, as well as one of Indo Mood’s beautiful muslin scarves for INR 990.

Anything Else?

Making a trip to India Imprints is worth it, and Aparna is a great person to talk you through the beautiful designs and cultures featured here. There’s something for everyone, and we bet you won’t be able to leave here empty handed! Follow them on Facebook for all the latest updates on their collections, and stay tuned for their curated design workshops!
