Feeling burnt out already when summer is only halfway here? To be honest, the summer season has not even begun properly yet. Anyway, sweat not. We know Kolkata gets super hot and sweaty and humid but, hey, isn’t it a great opportunity to run to the water parks in the city? It is, right? So, why wait? Gather your squad, grab your swimming gear and make your way to these water parks to cool off in this heat.

Aqua Marina Water Theme Park

Situated at a distance of 35 km from the city and about 1 km from the Hooghly station, Aqua Marina is relatively new. It is a complete entertainment paradise designed around water-based activities. You can have a splashing good time at the water slides, wave and pogo pools and other water rides. They also offer rooms for a stayover, boast of several amusement activities for kids, and a discotheque for the young crowd, making it a great choice for a weekend getaway.

To get to the water park, catch a train to Hooghly station. From there, you can either walk or take an autorickshaw to reach the place. If you are going by road, take the GT Road to Hooghly route.

Timings: 10 AM to 6 PM

Pocket Pinch: INR 120 per head inclusive of all rides. If you are a group of 20 people or more, then you pay only INR 90 per head.

Wet-O-Wild Water Park

Wet-O-Wild consists of exciting water rides and a 48-foot giant waterfall. Challenge a friend to race down with you on the Wave Runner, a thrilling high-speed mat racer that gives you the feel of riding on high waves. Scream your lungs out at the exhilarating Family Swirl Ride that takes you through a thrilling series of twists and turns before plummeting into a final plunge in the pool.

If all the splashing around in water has got you sneezing, you can head over to Nicco Park next door. The park also has an amazing 4-D movie theater and a bowling alley with a restobar.

Timings: Gates are open from 10.30 AM to 6.30 PM. The rides are open from 10.45 AM to 7.30 PM.

Pocket Pinch: INR 555 per head. This package includes all rides/slides in the water park and 12 specified free rides and attractions in the main park.

Aquatica

Aquatica is the oldest and the largest water park in eastern India. A popular ride here is the Black Hole, which will leave your heart thumping with its deadly twists and turns. The Cyclone starts from a height of 40ft, then blasts down a long tunnel, spins around a funnel, and hurtles through the eye of the storm to calm waters below. If you like calmer rides, you can chill on a rubber tube as it gently floats down the Lazy River.

Aquatica also offers rooms for an overnight stay and has an Island Shoppe stocked with swimming and bathing essentials. Restaurants and food courts offer a good choice of good enough Chinese, North Indian and Continental fare. If you happen to like racing, head to their go karting arena with your squad.

Timings: 10 AM to 6 PM.

Pocket Pinch: On weekdays, it’s INR 450 per person. On weekends and public holidays, you have to shell out INR 385.

Nalban Boating Complex

The newest kid on the block, Nalban Boating Complex is one of the best places to enjoy water sports. The lake, anyway, makes for a picture-perfect spot. Add shikaras, rowing boats, and paddle boats to the mix and it’s a recipe for a perfect evening. The boat rides are calming and picturesque, to say the least because the park is surrounded by trees and groves. There are several eateries inside the complex as well as nearby.

If you’re looking to spend a quiet and peaceful evening with your loved ones or a romantic date place away from the hustle and bustle of city life, Nalban is the perfect place to go to.

Timings: 9 AM to 8.15 PM

Pocket Pinch: INR 50 per head
