Pune is no stranger to South Indian cuisine! There are many quick-serve joints and hole-in-the-wall eateries that offer delectable South Indian fare. Adding to that list is Mutuswami Cafe, a Mumbai-based South Indian restaurant that recently opened its door to Punekars!
Located in Shivijinagar, Mutuswami Cafe takes you on a flavourful journey through tangy curries and spicy chutneys. One of the defining features of the restaurant is its upscale setting, which you won't find at any other South Indian restaurant in town. Dressed in earth tones, the restaurant has gorgeous indoor seating and resplendent alfresco seating surrounded by lush greenery. The walls are adorned with traditional South Indian motifs, and the soft lighting creates a soothing atmosphere to enjoy a delicious meal.
At Mutuswami Cafe, it's the food that truly shines. The menu boasts a diverse selection of South Indian delicacies that we know and love. The dosas here are nothing short of legendary. The paper-thin, crispy dosas are expertly prepared and come with a variety of mouthwatering fillings, such as potato masala, paneer, and even Schezwan flavour. The coconut chutney and tangy sambar served alongside are the perfect accompaniments. For the idli fans, Mutuswami is one of the few spots in town where you can gorge on Kanchipuram idlis. Soft, fluffy, and delicious, it's the most comforting breakfast ever. The uttapams served with tomato chutney, coconut chutney, and sambhar are equally delicious.
One of the things that we loved about Mutuswami is their diverse options. Along with the delicious dosas, the cafe also serves pav bhaji, grilled sandwiches, milkshakes, ice creams, and popular Puneri eats like misal pav. During breakfast time (7 AM to 11 AM), you can also get your hands on Maharashtrian specialities like poha, upma, and sheera. Don't forget to end your meal with a steaming cup of filter coffee. It's a perfect balance of bitterness and sweetness, leaving a memorable taste on your palate.
