Punekars are obsessed with croissants. Whether a sweet Pain Au Chocolat or savoury Ham & Cheese Croissant Sandwich, the city has a variety of cafes serving this classic French snack in their lip-smacking version. Joining the league is yet another cafe with its trending New York-style croissant wheels that are making waves on every social media handle and for the right reasons. Light, flaky, and full of flavours – these cream-filled croissants are what all sweet dreams are made of.
Invented by Lafayette Grand Cafe & Bakery in New York City, the croissant wheels made their debut at The Beans Talk Cafe in Viman Nagar. Run by Shabana Sulemani and her son Farhan, the rooftop cafe has cosy indoor and al fresco seating with a city view. While their menu features delicious pancakes, tacos, wraps, and burgers, it's their extensive and regularly updated croissant menu that’s got everyone talking.
The wheel-shaped puffed pastry with buttery layers is crisp on the outside and tender swirls on the inside. Filled with cream and topped with sweet condiments, the croissants are served on a custom wooden plate to hold them in place. While the cafe introduces new flavours every once in a while, its OG flavours are worth a shot. Like Dark Chocolate Croissant, generously filled with sweet cream and topped with dark chocolate shavings, is a must-have. So is the Biscoff Croissant topped with homemade marshmallow fluff. The newer flavours include Blueberry and Black Forest croissants. The best part is that all the croissants are 100% vegetarian and made without eggs.
